Red Cedar

Western Red Cedar, a universally popular wood, is extraordinarily beautiful and exceptionally durable. Because of its rich texture, natural luster, and deep, warm tones, which range from light amber to honey brown, cedar makes some of the most spectacular furniture in the world. Its distinct, pleasant fragrance adds to its irresistible allure. The natural oils inherent in cedar ward off infestation by insects, and guard against decay by the elements. Cedar also possesses dimensionally stable properties that prevent warping.

Properly finished and maintained, Western Red Cedar ages gracefully and endures for many years. Cedar can be sealed and stained to maintain its reddish hue, or allowed to weather naturally to a rustic gray. You can choose the tone you prefer, by applying a stain/sealer immediately, or letting it weather to a certain degree before treating it.

Quality stain/sealers, which you can find at your local hardware store, offer many color options, including clear, honey, cedar, and redwood. Keep in mind that the darker stains are better for maintaining the natural look, as they provide more protection from UV rays and body oils. We recommend that you apply at least two coats every few years, depending on the climate in your region. If your furniture is constantly exposed to severe weather, it may have to be treated annually.

Treated Pine
Treated Southern Yellow Pine is another great choice for picnic tables. Slightly more economical that cedar, pine also makes beautiful, sturdy furniture that will stand up to years of heavy use and all kinds of weather. Pine picnic tables are made from top-grade pine that has undergone a process of kiln-drying, before and after a special pressure treatment, to help to prevent decay and minimize warping, checking, and twisting.

Southern Yellow Pine can also be sealed and stained for retention of its yellow hue, or allowed to weather to a yellow-tinted gray. Applying a stain/sealer once a year will preserve the radiance of the wood and protect it from the elements. We recommend that you use one that has UV protection, and is resistant to mildew. You may also use a tinted sealer, if you wish.

Cherry

AllPicnicTables.com also offers a magnificent outdoor dining set with its chairs and tables hand-crafted from lustrous, luxuriant Cherry Wood, one of the most desirable furniture materials on the planet.

We finish our Cherry Wood with clear penetrating oil. Like any other wood, it will weather naturally if it is exposed to the elements, and should be re-treated occasionally for the preservation of its radiance. We also use heavy-duty, stainless steel hardware to sustain the furniture’s structural integrity throughout the years, as it expands and contracts with the changes in temperature and humidity.

Teak
Our top-of-the-line Dining Sets and Accent Tables are made from genuine Burma Teak, the best of all hardwoods for manufacturing outdoor furniture. The rich soil in which Burma Teak grows infuses the wood with a high concentration of mineral deposits, making it heavy, dense, waxy, and thermally stable. These qualities help it to repel water, resist decay, and keep from warping. You can preserve its resplendent finish by applying stain/sealer, or allow it to weather naturally to a gray tone.We use copper tubing and brass fittings to secure all joints, seats, and backs in our teak collection. This further aids in the wood’s natural ability to withstand expansion and contraction caused by changing weather, making it super-resistant to warping and joint failure.

Polywood

Polywood is a wood substitute manufactured from high-density polyethylene resins, select coloring, and foaming agents, processed to obtain a material that closely resembles painted and natural wood.

Polywood cannot absorb moisture, so it won’t rot, warp, crack, splinter, peel, or decay. Since it is compounded with permanent, UV stabilized colors, there is no need to paint, stain, waterproof, strip, or resurface it. Polywood is also impervious to many common corrosive substances, including salt water, gasoline, mineral spirits, and hydrocarbon oils. It can be cleaned with soap and water, all-purpose cleaners, or a solution of water and bleach.

Thermoplastic-coated
Our Thermoplastic-coated tables and benches are incredibly strong. Their galvanized steel understructures are coated with black powder, and then covered with a smooth, attractive thermoplastic finish. This furniture, available in a full spectrum of colors, is perfectly suited for commercial use for parks, college campuses, corporate complexes, and outdoor eating establishments.

Aluminum

Our lightweight Aluminum tables and benches are no lightweights! No matter how rough the handling, or how heavy the usage, they will not dent, crack, bend, warp, split, or rust, even when they’re left out in the rain. As with all of our synthetic and metal furniture, they are simple to maintain, requiring only soap and water for cleaning.
